In my classroom, we’re a team. I will learn just as much from my students as I teach them, fostering an environment where we will all face challenges together and grow through exploring this massive ocean of music. As a jazz musician, I believe in pushing my students to develop skills in improvisation, collaboration, theory, and more to unlock their full musical potential. Students should know the music of the world, starting with the music rooted in their heritage and personal experiences; only then will find their “why” for music. I aim to empower all students to be confident, creative musicians. Ultimately, I want them to leave my classroom with the tools and relationships they’ll need to find the path to their own musical treasures.
